ADA Seal of Approval

Do you get easily overwhelmed by the choices offered to you in the oral health care section at the store? Do you notice more and more products rolling out than you can keep up with? We have a little tip that might make things less stressful when shopping for some new dental products.

Look for this symbol when shopping!

This symbol is the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of acceptance. In short, this means that the product that wears this seal has been deemed safe and effective by the ADA. The program is overseen by the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and they’ve been reviewing dental products for close to 100 years. There are certain requirements a product has to meet in order to be approved by the council to receive its seal. Some of those requirements include clinical and lab studies on the product to prove safety and effectiveness as well as scientific proof to support the claims the product is advertising.

The ADA Council oversees over 20 categories of products that includes more than 400 different products. These products include toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, floss/flossers, picks, and so much more.

Next time you are out shopping, you can rest assured knowing the products that wear this seal are trusted, tested, and approved by a group of well qualified doctors!
